Published Jul 09, 2020Sacha Baron Cohen interviews typically get a bit crazy, but one with Rudy Giuliani apparently got more than a little out of control, as it led to a call to the NYPD.
The former New York City mayor and personal attorney to Donald Trump went to Manhattan's Mark Hotel on Tuesday (July 7), apparently thinking he was going to be interviewed about the Trump administration's response to COVID-19, Page Six reports. However, when Cohen showed up wearing a pink bikini, Giuliani called the cops on him.
"This guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit," Giuliani told Page Six. "It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn't what I would call distractingly attractive."
Giuliani explained he didn't recognize Cohen, saying: "This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shakedown, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away."
When the NYPD arrived, Cohen had reportedly already left, but the police eventually apprehended him while the comedian was running about the neighbourhood in nothing but a bathrobe.
When reached by Page Six, the NYPD would not comment, nor would Cohen or his team.
This latest Cohen prank follows another incident over the weekend when he crashed a right-wing event in Washington, D.C., posing as a racist country singer. At the event, he encouraged the crowd to sing lyrics about liberals getting "chopped up" or "injected with the Wuhan flu."
He also took the stage at another recent event in Olympia, where he got the crowd to sing lyrics such as, "Obama, what we gonna do? Inject him with the Wuhan flu … WHO what we gonna do? Chop 'em up like the Saudis do."
This has led many to speculate that we're going to get a second season of Cohen's Who Is America?, which aired on Showtime in 2018. So far, though, neither the network nor Cohen has confirmed the show's return.
Previously, Cohen said Who Is America? would not be coming back for a second season, so he could be working on an entirely new project under a different name.
In other words, stay tuned.
