The film had its first public screening at the Venice Film Festival today, but it was interrupted by a power outage after the Sala Grande was struck by lightning.
The movie was interrupted for about 20 minutes before the screen was restored. Critic Derek Blasberg offered the following commentary from the audience:
LADY GAGA IS ELECTRIFYING. Literally. I'm in Venice for the film festival and sitting in the audience at the premiere of "A Star is Born," and the theater was just struck by lightning—no joke—and damaged the projection. And now we're all waiting for it to start. ⚡️🇮🇹— Derek Blasberg (@DerekBlasberg) August 31, 2018
To be fair, Bradley Cooper is killing in this movie too. (But, I mean, I hope the lightning stops because I don't actually want tonight.) "Thanks for waiting," the star and director yelled from his seat. Everyone swooned.— Derek Blasberg (@DerekBlasberg) August 31, 2018
A Star Is Born will strike theatres on October 5. Watch its trailer below.
