Published Dec 17, 2019Arcade Fire have pulled back the curtain on the 2020 instalment of their annual Krewe du Kanaval event, revealing the band will headline the upcoming festivities.
Krewe du Kanaval will take place on February 14 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts in New Orleans.
In addition to Arcade Fire, the event will feature performances by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Michael Brun, Jillionaire, Lakou Mizik and Pierre Kwenders, among "many more special guests."
Following that show, Krewe du Kanaval and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will march in the Krewe of Freret Parade on February 15.
The theme of Krewe du Kanaval this time is "Merci Haiti" and aims to celebrate the cultural exchanges between New Orleans and Haiti, a relationship "which is needed now more than ever!" Arcade Fire's Win Butler said in a statement.
Krewe du Kanaval's co-founder and Arcade Fire member Régine Chassagne is of Haitian descent, and over the years, the band have donated more than $3 million to various charities and projects in Haiti through her KANPE Foundation.
