Published May 08, 2016After smashing it up with their 2014 album Piñata, it's been confirmed that Cali-based rapper Freddie Gibbs and crate-digger extraordinaire Madlib are putting together another collaborative full-length. A due date has yet to be revealed, but the project is called Bandana.
As Pitchfork reports, Madlib spilled the beans yesterday (May 7) in New York City during a talk for the Red Bull Music Academy. An interview yielded an album name, but no official release date.
During the talk, Madlib had also noted that beats that were auditioned for Kanye West's The Life of Pablo album were ultimately nabbed by Gibbs. It's unclear if these particular beats will appear on Bandana, though.
Following Madlib's big reveal, Gibbs co-signed the announcement on social media. He started off by simply hashtagging #Bandana on his Twitter account.
On Instagram, Gibbs spent a bit of the morning posting pictures of his grandmother and mom for Mother's Day before uploading a screengrab of the run times of some Madlib-produced cuts.
