Published Feb 04, 2009Headbangers, it is almost time for another uprising. According to Earache Records, Richmond, VA thrashers Municipal Waste are finally set to record the follow-up to their monumentally successful tertiary effort The Art Of Partying. Released in 2007, that album ushered Municipal Waste to the forefront of thrash metal's resurgence and garnered much praise from critics and fans alike. Let's put it this way: there aren't many bands who can say, "We're ready to record" and hair farmers shriek like schoolgirls.
Trumping up the hype, singer Tony Foresta is quick to dispel fears that the Waste have gone mushy... as if there was every any fear. In fact, he feels they've managed to step up their unique brand of Nuclear Assault-meets-D.R.I. hyperactivity yet another notch.
"So far the song writing is coming off a lot more aggressive than our previous efforts... I think it is a definite change from our last [two] albums. [It's] nothing super drastic but a positive change. The Waste is still all about having a good time. But I think we all agreed on writing something a bit more pissed off and different with this album instead of going ahead and writing the same album all over again. But don't fear were not getting 'artistic' or any bullshit like that. We've just been listening to a lot more Poison Idea and NWOBHM and I feel it might show a bit with this next album," he notes in the band's statement, a sentiment that is upheld by drummer Dave Witte. "This set of new songs are challenging and super fun to play, we turned up the aggressive and speed knobs while keeping the good time intact."
As with The Art Of Partying, this presently unnamed album will be recorded at Red Planet Studios with producer Zeuss. It will be released in late August 2009 but in the meantime, catch Municipal Waste on the No Fear Energy Music Tour with Lamb Of God, As I Lay Dying, Children Of Bodom and God Forbid at the dates below.
