David Lynch Says He Has "Zero Interest" in Seeing Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune'
Published Apr 20, 2020Denis Villeneuve continues to ramp up excitement for his forthcoming Dune remake, but there's at least one person who won't be seeing it — previous Dune adapter David Lynch.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lynch reiterated that he's moved on from the media property since his notorious and disastrous 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel.
"I have zero interest in Dune," he said, calling the project a "heartache" and adding, "It was a failure and I didn't have final cut. I've told this story a billion times. It's not the film I wanted to make. I like certain parts of it very much — but it was a total failure for me."
When asked more directly if he'd check out Villeneuve's updated version of the project, Lynch doubled down. "I said I've got zero interest," he concluded.
Denis Villeneuve's Dune adaptation will arrive on December 18.
